In the second quarter of 2024, the theme parks category has seen interesting shifts in app performance across the global platform, as reported by Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at the top 5 theme park apps and their performance metrics.
Disneyland® Paris experienced a notable week in late April with a revenue spike to $24M, while maintaining consistent revenue otherwise, ranging from $4M to $6M weekly. Downloads showed an upward trend, starting at 168K and peaking at 332K in early June. Weekly active users followed a similar trajectory, increasing from 341K to 626K in the same period.
LEGOLAND® Billund Resort did not generate revenue but saw downloads grow from 26K to a high of 363K by the end of June. Weekly active users started appearing in late April with 35K and grew to 192K by the end of Q2.
Universal Studios Japan also reported no revenue. However, downloads ranged from as low as 9K to a peak of 81K in mid-June. Active users displayed growth, starting at 70K and reaching 155K by mid-June before a slight dip to 137K.
My Disney Experience showed fluctuating revenue with two significant peaks, $43M in late May and $71M in mid-June. Download numbers were modest, beginning at 10K and peaking at 76K in mid-April. Weekly active users were not consistently reported but peaked at 75K in mid-April.
Lastly, Port Aventura, with no revenue, had a slow start in downloads with no data for the first week but eventually reached 51K by late June. Active users were only reported for four weeks, peaking at 45K at the end of June.
